Unboxing Acer Iconia W4

Christmas present came early this year! Thanks to my lovely wife, I got to experience the most talk-about Intel Atom (4th Gen) Bay Trail Quad core 1.3GHz Z3740 processor running on the new Acer Iconia W4 tablet PC. I has recently made its first appearance in Malaysia at the Pikom PC Fair last weekends. W4 is the successor of the W3, which is also a 8.0'' tablet PC running on Windows 8 launched in July this year.
Intel new Atom Z3740 processor is a low voltage quad core processor, which Acer claim that the W4 can last up to 8 hours of usage...we shall see!
However, this new W4 has some improvement features over the predecessor and should be competitive to the netbook in the market as it shares the similar attributes such as the Atom processor. Firstly, it is now running on Windows 8.1, 8" HD IPS LCD screen with 1280x800 resolution which Acer promises a better viewing angle and clearer realistic screen (will try it out!).
It comes eMMC storage of 64GB and also a MicroUSB slot for capacity expansion. There is also a home button at the front for easy access to Windows home screen. The 2GB Ram should be sufficient for basic multi-tasking on the move; should not be an issue for Microsoft Office such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, and Notes (the Student Edition are bundled with W4). It has an HDMI-out on the side for you to connect to a larger screen (if you want to). W4 comes with front (2MP) and rear (5MP) camera. Will be testing the camera soon. Please follow my review at choegraphy.blogspot.com. (I have recently unboxed the Nokia Lumia 1020)
In the box, there is nothing much exciting as there is the W4, MicroUSB charger & cable, MicroUSB to USB adapter, manuals and the Microsoft Office Student Edition license. Well, with the retail price at RM1,099, I don't think we can expect anything more than these standard stuffs.

Can't wait to turn it on and start to explore it more... :P Please follow my blog for more updates!!!
