On 1st April 2014, Berjaya University College of Hospitality Business Club organised a study tour to Google Malaysia office at Quill 7, Jalan Stesen Sentral, Kuala Lumpur. It was a great opportunity to visit a renowned Internet-based company that has been diversifying into various state-of-the-art products. The Google Malaysia office may not be as large and comprehensive as their offices in other countries but the essence of 'googley' can be felt.
We started our journey from Berjaya Times Square. Using the monorail, we managed to reach the Quill 7 on-time (earlier than expected actually).
|
First, we waited at KL Sentral...too earlier! |
|
Then, we waited for awhile at the Quill 7 lobby...still early because Google was having another group of visitors at that time. |
Soon, we got the green light and up we went. The first thing that caught our attention was the main entrance to the office.
|
Excited already? |
To enter the office, you will need to register as a guest. The kiosk at the main entrance is for guest to register themselves. Each guest will have to put on the name tag generated by this kiosk. Thanks to Melissa Ong, Account Strategist in Google Malaysia, all our tags were prepared in advanced.
We were then guided to a room (like a lecture theatre, but with sandbags as seats) for a talk. It was the main highlight of our visit, being introduced to the company values, business goals and Google's future plans. The talk ended after an interesting session on Q&As. Those who were there got to ask and understand more about Google's approach in business and its strategic intention.
|
Ms Paramjeet giving presentation to our learners. |
After the talk, we had a short break at 'Gerai Gugel'. We were offered to have some snacks and beverages, chill out and a chance experience the life of being a Google employee.
|
Just like in the movie 'The Internship', employees here can dine for FREE!!! |
|
They even have their own kitchen and chefs! |
Never forget about this room, the 'Game Room'.
Something that caught our attention was this large screen, showing live search keywords from Google search in Malaysia.
After the break, we went for a quick tour in their office but no photos are allowed. Couldn't share much but it is definitely a great place that many of us want to be stationed at. Nice open office concept with spacious workstations.
Although it was just a short tour, we all had a good time seeing how a reputable company in world operates in our country. A great opportunity to visit an awesome workplace for the talents behind Google Malaysia.
Be Googley!!! Seeing is believing!!!
